Jeff Foster was a member of the men’s basketball team from 1995-99. He was named a two-time All-Southland Conference selection. Foster was the third Bobcat in school history to eclipse 1,000 points and grab more than 900 rebounds. As a senior, he ranked third nationally with 11.3 rebounds per game and was runner-up for the SLC Player of the Year award. He averaged double figures in both scoring and rebounding as a junior and senior. Foster graduated from Texas State with a degree in applied arts.
Foster was a key contributor to the very successful Bobcat basketball teams of the late 1990s. He was a member of the 1997 team that won both SLC Regular Season and Tournament Championships and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. A four-time letterman, he was also a member of the 1999 SLC Regular Season Championship team.
He ranks 13th all time in scoring in the history of Bobcat basketball with 1,084 points and third as the all-time leading rebounder with 931. Foster was the team rebounding leader in 1997, 1998 and 1999, team field goal percentage leader in 1997 and 1998, and the team blocked shots leader in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999. He was named Second Team All-Southland Conference in 1998 and First Team All-Southland Conference in 1999. In 1999, he was voted as the team’s Most Valuable Player. He was one of 18 NCAA Division I players to average double figures in both scoring and rebounding his junior and senior seasons.
After an impressive college career, Foster was selected as the 21st pick in the 1999 NBA Draft. He has spent his entire 11-year career playing for the Indiana Pacers and is one of just four players in Pacers' history to see action in 11 seasons. He is fourth in Pacers franchise history in total games played, and has averaged 5.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during his NBA career.
Foster has generously donated back to Texas State University while also being involved in several charitable events in the Indianapolis area. He is a proud supporter of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Indianapolis and the Indiana Children's Wish Fund organizations. He is also a contributor to the Vernon McDonald Men’s Basketball Endowment.
Jeff currently lives in Noblesville, Indiana with his wife, Jamie, and two children, Carter and Elle Louise.
