SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (9-3) opens Sun Belt Conference play at home on Thursday when it hosts Troy (9-4). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Strahan Arena.

HOME WINNING STREAK
The Bobcats enter Thursday on a 10-game winning streak at home. It is tied for the 24
th longest in the nation with California Baptist, SMU, South Dakota State, St. Mary's and Texas Tech. Half of the Bobcats' wins have come this season in non-conference action.
BLOCK FEST
With 14 blocks against Paul Quinn, Texas State set a new program record in a game and breaking the previous mark was 11 rejections on Dec. 11, 2005 against St. Edward's. Six different Bobcats recorded a block on Saturday led by a career-high five from
Nighael Ceaser. Small matched his career best with four rejections and
Nate Martin added two. Also credited with a block was
Mason Harrell,
Brandon Love and
Tyrel Morgan.
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
Leading the way for the Bobcats offensively is
Caleb Asberry at 13.3 ppg while shooting 44.8% from the field and has made a team-high 22 three-pointers. Also averaging double-figures in scoring is Small at 10.7 ppg. He also paces the squad with 6.9 rebounds a contest. Harrell enters putting up 9.9 ppg and dishing out 2.8 apg while
Shelby Adams is contributing a career best 9.3 ppg on 51.9% shooting.
SCOUTING TROY
Troy comes in on a four-game winning streak. The Trojans are 4-3 away from home with a 3-2 mark in true road games. Efe Odigie and Duke Deen are the top scorers at 10.2 and 10.0 ppg, respectively. Desmond Williams has knocked down a team-high 25 three-pointers and Deen is right behind him with 23 made treys. Eleven different players have started a game and are averaging double-digit minutes per contest.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the 14 meeting between the programs and the seventh to take place in San Marcos. TXST leads the all-time series 8-5 with a 5-1 record at home. The last meeting was on Jan. 6, 2020 in Strahan Arena and saw the Bobcats fall 71-63 behind a game-high 24 points from Nijal Pearson. Last time Texas State defeated at home was Jan. 6, 2018. Alex Peacock put back a missed shot to give the Bobcats a lead with four seconds remaining and the Trojan's B.J. Miller saw a layup attempt at the buzzer hit off the back of the rim and bounce out as TXST escaped with a 57-56 victory.
