Brant Freeman is currently the lead television announcer for Texas State Athletics and has served in a variety of roles in covering the Bobcats since 2003, including radio play-by-play for Texas State Football from 2003 through 2018.  Among the notable moments he’s covered is the program’s run to the FCS National Semifinals in 2005, its second Southland Conference Championship season in 2008, transition into FBS football in 2012 and more.  He has hosted the Texas State Coach’s Radio Show each football season since 2006 and Texas State Football’s weekly statewide TV show from 2010 – 2019. 

A well-versed announcer, Freeman has covered nearly every sport for the Bobcats since Texas State started its own broadcast productions, including football, volleyball, soccer, men’s & women’s basketball, softball, baseball, golf and track & field.  As a freelance broadcaster, he’s also done play-by-play for FloCollege’s coverage of the annual Shriner’s Children’s College Showdown from Globe Life Field in Arlington, the high school baseball state championships and high school football playoffs on Bally Sports and more.  He has also had the opportunity to serve as lead announcer of Sun Belt Conference postseason events, including the 2018 Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the 2019 Volleyball Championships. 
 
Freeman also provides online content on TxStateBobcats.com, including the States Up Podcast and special video features and he also emcees public events for the athletic department including the annual Bobcat Bonanza and Texas State Baseball’s leadoff dinner, and since 2020, has also been a name reader for Texas State University’s commencement ceremonies each fall and spring semester. 
 
Freeman’s career at Texas State began as a student for the campus station, KTSW, where he worked from 2003 until 2006.  While at KTSW, Freeman was recognized in 2003 as the nation’s best play-by-play broadcaster by College Broadcasters Inc. That same year, Freeman earned first place for play-by-play by the Southwest Journalism Conference.  He was also a finalist for the Best Regularly Scheduled Program by CBI in 2004 and was awarded first place by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association for Best TV Sportscast in 2006.
 
For nine years, Freeman served as sports director at AM 1420 KGNB Radio in New Braunfels where he anchored a daily sportscasts and covered a wide array of sports from area high school athletics to season-long coverage of the San Antonio Spurs.  Among the major sporting events he has covered as a reporter include the NBA Finals and the Final Four.
 
Freeman is a 2006 graduate of Texas State University and has a daughter, Zoey, born in 2011.
