Bobcats Close Home Schedule With Three-Game Series; Senior Day Slated For Sunday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State concludes its 2017 regular season home schedule with a three-game series Saturday and Sunday (April 29-30) against Sun Belt foe Troy. The Bobcats and Trojans are scheduled for a 1 p.m. / 3 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and a single game Sunday at noon. Sunday's game will also serve as senior day for the six members of the 2017 senior class.

Texas State vs. Troy
• Texas State closes out its regular season home slate on Saturday and Sunday with a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against Troy.
  Inside the Series
• Texas State leads the all-time series against the Trojans 7-4. The Bobcats are 3-1 against Troy in San Marcos, 3-3 in Troy and 1-0 in neutral site games.
• The Bobcats won the season series in Troy last year, 2-1, then defeated the Trojans 3-2 in eight innings in the Sun Belt tournament.
 
Last Time Out For The Bobcats
•  Randi Rupp struck out 11 of 22 batters faced in her 5.2 innings of work and the Texas State lineup produced three runs as the Bobcats defeated I-35 rival UTSA 3-1 on Wednesday evening.
• The Bobcat hitters collected four hits against the Roadrunners with Ariel Ortiz, Jaelyn Young, Haleigh Davis and Lexi Fryar recording base knocks. Taylor Webb, along with Young and Davis had the TXST RBI.
• Texas State swept the season series against the Roadrunners 2-0 after also winning by an 8-1 margin at the UTSA Classic back on Feb. 25. The Bobcats are now 35-11 on the season, while UTSA fell to 19-29.
 
Final Home Series For 2017 Senior Class
• This weekend's series against Troy will mark the final home games for members of the 2017 senior class. Immediately following Sunday's series finale, seniors Quincy Charleston, Alex Cruz, Lexi Fryar, Corrina Liscano, Kimberlin Naivar and Jodi Paige Williams will be honored on the field for their accomplishments and contributions to Bobcat softball.
 
Bobcats Finish Nonconference Schedule 21-5
• Texas State closed its nonconference schedule 21-5, including a 5-2 record against Power 5 teams and a win over a top-15 ranked Baylor squad.
• The Bobcats went 9-1 in midweek nonconference contests with the lone loss coming by a 5-1 final at No. 5 Texas A&M in a game that the Bobcats scored first and led for three innings.
 
Bobcats Receiving Votes For First Time Since 2004
• In the week 11 editions of the national polls, Texas State received eight votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll and nine votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Poll.
• The Bobcats have received votes in five different weeks this season, marking the first time the program received top 25 votes since week 10 of the 2004 season.
 
Bobcats Boast The Nation's 29th RPI And The Sun Belt's Toughest Schedule
• Texas State came in 29th in the NCAA's fifth RPI release on Monday, April 24, marking the second highest RPI in the Sun Belt Conference (Louisiana is tops with an RPI of 19).
• The Bobcats have played the toughest schedule among Sun Belt members (No. 29 nationally) as TXST opponents have a combined win percentage of .573.
 
Texas Is Our State
• Texas State has played 13 games against teams from the Lone Star State, posting a 11-2 record. So far in 2017 the Bobcats' have defeated Abilene Christian, Texas Tech, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Incarnate Word (twice), UTSA (twice), Texas (twice), Houston and Baylor with three games against UTA still to play. The only two losses suffered by the Bobcats to Texas institutions came in the season opener against Abilene Christian (Feb. 10) and at No. 5 Texas A&M (March 29).
