GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After surviving the first elimination game with a 6-0 win versus Florida A&M, Texas State fell 4-1 to Georgia Tech for its 2026 season to come to an end in the Gainesville Regional.

Texas State started off the first inning with just one base runner which came via four-pitch walk of
Aiyana Coleman. She was walked for the 111
th time in 111 games to break the program record for career walks.Â
In the bottom half of the first, Coleman helped Strood get out of the inning with a double play via lineout after she walked the leadoff batter.Â
Texas State scored via sac-fly from
Sami Hood in the second inning to take the lead early. Strood retired the side in order in the bottom half of the inning to follow that up.
Harley Vestal singled up the middle to get on base in the 3
rd, she came around to score off a
Kat Zarate double that bounced off the outfield fence. From there, Strood tossed another three up, three down inning to keep the 2-0 lead through three.
Both sides were retired in order in the 4
th.Â
Texas State got runners on base beginning with a
Keely Williams single in the top of the 5
th. From there, she advanced to second and came around to score on a Coleman double. Mel Reeves, who pinch ran for Coleman, also came around to score on a
Kat Zarate single.
Strood surrendered her first hit of the game in the bottom of the 5
th, a double to left. She didn't allow the runner to come around to score with a pair of foul outs and a lineout.
Texas State was unable to extend its lead in the 6
th, but found two more runs in the 7
th off a 2 RBI single from
Karmyn Bass. She scored Coleman and
Ava Renteria who reached on singles.Â
Strood tallied a pair of strikeouts to preserve her shutout in the bottom of the 7
th.
TXST 1, GA Tech 4
Maddy Azua started in the circle for the Bobcats, starting the outing with two scoreless innings. Georgia Tech got on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the 3
rd to take the lead.
From there, though,
Megan Kelnar's second double of the game drove in a run to tie the game up in the top of the 4
th. She scored Zarate who reached on a single.
Both sides recorded singles in the fifth but stranded runners to make it still 1-1 heading into the 6
th.
Georgia Tech took the lead on a RBI single in the bottom half of the inning after a leadoff walk. From there, a two-run home run gave the Yellowjackets a 4-1 lead.
Texas State was unable to find an answer and its season came to a close with a 4-1 loss and will finish 39-22 on the season.
