Started in all 62 games as the everyday shortstop … Finished second on the team with 49 hits while leading the team with six home runs … Carried a slugging percentage of .427 which ranked second on the team … Was a perfect 1-for-1 in stolen bases … Led the team with four sacrifice flies … Finished the season with a team-high 37 RBIs … Matched her career-high of home runs in a game with two against UT Arlington on May 7 … Had a season-high six game hitting streak from Feb 14 through Feb. 20 … In the hitting streak, she registered 11 hits in 18 at bats … Comes into the 2017 season ranked second all-time with a .314 career batting average.
2015
Started in all 53 games as the everyday shortstop… Led the team in home runs with 12, doubles with 16, total bases with 111, runs scored with 44 and a .694 slugging percentage … In the first tournament of the season, Ortiz led the team offensively gong 11-17, racking up three home runs on the weekend … Was named the SBC Player of the Week on Feb. 9 after her dominant performance in her first collegiate tournament … Recorded a single-game high five at bats against Northern Illinois and Georgia State … Recorded three hits in five separate games over the season … Tallied 57 hits, one triple, and 43 RBIs … Drew a career-high four walks against Sam Houston State on Feb. 7… Recorded a career-high five RBI against UT Arlington on May 3… Ranked second on the team with a .356 batting average … In her freshman campaign she recorded the most home runs by a freshman ever and ranks second all-time in the program’s history for home runs in a season.

Attended Waxahachie High School where she was ranked No. 44 on the Student Sports Top-100 2014 Seniors List … During her time at Waxahachie, she was named the District 15-4A Newcomer of the Year her freshman season and the District 15-4A Co-Offensive Player of the Year along with the Dallas Morning News All-Area Utility second-team her sophomore season … After hitting .602 with 60 RBI, 56 runs, and 13 home runs her junior season, she was named the District 15-4A Offensive Player of the Year … Member of the Texas Glory Gold Shelton travel team.

The daughter of April and Eloy Ortiz … Has two siblings, Chris and Damian … Chose to attend Texas State because of the softball program and how appealing the university is … Was a member of the WHS Symphony Belles and FCA … Majoring in business.
