Maddy Azua, Keely Williams Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

SAN MARCOS, Texas –  Two Bobcats were awarded NFCA All-Region Honors this season, with Maddy Azua being named 2nd Team All-Region, and Keely Williams being named 3rd Team.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the NFCA's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes (eight maximum) and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2026 NFCA Division I All-America squads.

This is the first NFCA All-Region award of Azua or Williams' career. They join Aiyana Coleman, who was named 3rd Team All-Region in 2025 as the lone active Bobcats with all-conference accolades.

These are the 36th and 37th all-Region awards under Head Coach Ricci Woodard since 2001.

Maddy Azua has been lights-out for the Bobcats in the circle. So far this season she has accumulated a 1.90 ERA in 231.2 innings of work. Throughout that time she has a career-best 26 wins which is also one of the best marks in the nation, while allowing just 63 earned runs, striking out 231 batters and walking just 54. Azua is limited batters to a .237 average while allowing just 209 hits this season. Azua was named 2026 Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-Conference for her work in conference play this season as well.

Keely Williams has led off for the Bobcats this season for nearly the entire year. As the leadoff batter, Williams is averaging .384 on the season with 68 hits, 42 walks and 28 RBI with an on base percentage of .502. Williams has scored 39 runs while having a team-best 17 doubles this season. She's stolen 10 bases which is also a team best while having a near-perfect year in the field with just one error all season. Williams was named First Team All-Sun Belt this season for her efforts in league play.

Azua, Williams and the rest of the Bobcats will start their run in the NCAA Tournament tomorrow, May 15th, at the Gainesville Regional. The Bobcats will face Georgia Tech at 12:30 p.m. (CT) with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
