HUBBARD WINS FIRST CAREER WEEKLY ACCOLADE
Jaylen Hubbard was named the Sun Belt Conference Community Coffee Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the league announced Monday afternoon. The sophomore third baseman received the honor for games played April 10-16 after helping lead the Texas State baseball team to a series victory over ULM this past weekend. The Missouri City, Texas, native entered the weekend with one career home run, and he belted round-trippers in each of the first two games against the Warhawks. He registered two hits and at least one RBI in all four games this past week to finish with a .533 batting average (8-for-15). He tallied a .562 on-base percentage and a .933 slugging percentage, while finishing with eight RBIs and three runs scored. The hit and RBI totals are both the most in any four-game stretch in Hubbard's career. This past week also marked the first time in his career he recorded multiple hits in four-straight contests. For good measure, he also stole a base and only struck out once. Three of his eight hits came with two outs, and he finished 6-for-9 on the week with runners in scoring position. Hubbard is currently riding a career long six-game hitting streak. He has registered at least one RBI in each of those six games, which is also a career best. Hubbard joins fellow sophomore Jonathan Ortega (March 7) as the two weekly award winners from Texas State this season. Hubbard is also the fourth Bobcat to be named as the SBC Player of the Week, joining Ortega, junior Luke Sherley (March 1, 2016) and former great Tanner Hill (March 19, 2015).

BOBCATS WRAP UP HISTORY-MAKING MONTH
Texas State finished the month of March with a 14-4 record. The .778 win percentage was the highest of any March in school history. The Bobcats also tied the school record for most wins in the month of March. The 1992 squad went 14-7 in March. During the 31-day span, TXST rattled off 13 wins in 15 games and took down three of the last 13 national champions (Rice, Texas, Coastal Carolina). The series win over the Chanticleers was noteworthy because the reigning NCAA champs are 6-0 in league play since falling to the maroon and gold.

'CATS SHATTER ATTENDANCE MARK, TOPPLE UT 11-10 IN EXTRAS
Texas State defeated Texas 11-10 in 10 innings on March 11 inside Bobcat Ballpark. The win was the first all-time for the Bobcats at home against UT, and it also set a new all-time attendance mark of 3,017 fans. After battling back to tie the game on four different occasions, the Bobcats were finally able to take their first lead in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the 10th. The game-winning hit came off the bat of Luke Sherley, who's single to shallow right center drove in sophomore Ryan Newman and set the record crowd into a frenzy. This was the fourth walkoff hit of the season for TXST (Purdue, Feb. 18 / Richmond, March 5 / Coastal Carolina, March 17). Sherley went 4-for-5 to tie for a career-high in hits. He recorded hits in the eighth, ninth and 10th innings. He also drove in a career-high four runs and scored in both the eighth and ninth frames. Jaylen Hubbard registered a career-high in hits (4-for-5), and Jacob Almendarez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Theodore Hoffman went 2-for-6 with two runs scored, and Newman scored three times. Blake Walden (5-0) earned the win on the mound and is now tied for the nation's lead in that category. He threw the final 2.2 frames and gave up just one run on two hits, while striking out two. Junior Cam Baird started the contest and logged the first 4.0 frames. He conceded three runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out three. Senior Brandon Courville, sophomore Anthony Pagano and true freshmen Zachary Leigh and Shane Daughety also saw time on the mound.
