SAN MARCOS, Texas – After leading the Texas State baseball program to an NCAA Regional appearance in 2026, TXST Director of Athletics
Don Coryell announced Monday that baseball head coach
Steven Trout, has signed a four-year contract extension through June 2030.
"We're excited to announce coach Trout's contract extension, ensuring his leadership of our baseball program for years to come," said Coryell. "Since arriving at Texas State, Steven has built a culture centered on player development, accountability and competing at the highest level. This past season's NCAA Regional appearance, record-breaking offensive production and the success our student-athletes in the classroom are a testament to the vision he has for this program. As we begin a new chapter in the Pac-12, we have tremendous confidence in coach Trout's ability to continue elevating Texas State baseball."
TXST saw five players earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2026, while catcher,
Clayton Namken, was named a freshman All-American by both Perfect Game and Baseball America. The NCAA postseason appearance was the second during his tenure, as the Bobcats earned the No. 3 seed in the College Station Regional.

Bryan Dean and all of the administration for believing in me and the direction of our baseball program. I also want to thank my staff for all their hard work and time they put into our program to make it what it is.
"Lastly, I want to thank our amazing student-athletes for all they have done for Texas State. They are the ones that win the games and give everything they have to this program. I can't wait to see the stands packed as we enter the new era of Texas State baseball."
During the 2026 season, the Bobcats hit 116 home runs, good for ninth in the country, and broke the Sun Belt Conference record for most home runs in a season. Individually,
Chase Mora surpassed Paul Goldschmidt as the all-time home run leader in Texas State history, and
Rashawn Galloway broke the single season record for doubles. Mora was recently drafted in the ninth round by the Milwaukee Brewers and Galloway was drafted in the 16th round by the Houston Astros.
Since the start of Trout's tenure in 2020, the Bobcats captured the 2022 Sun Belt regular-season championship with a program-record 47 victories and advanced to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection. TXST finished the season nationally ranked across every major poll.
Over the six-year span, the Bobcats produced numerous individual honors, including the 2022 Sun Belt Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, multiple All-America selections led by consensus First Team All-American Tristan Stivors, and dozens of All-Sun Belt performers. The program also developed eight MLB Draft picks.
