College Station, Texas –
No. 25 Texas State baseball saw its four-game winning streak go by the wayside as the Bobcats fell to No. 11 Texas A&M, 15-5, on Tuesday evening at Olsen Field in College Station. The Bobcats held a 5-4 lead after 3 ½ innings, but the Aggies offense came to life and scored 11 runs between the fourth and seventh innings, forcing Texas State to use nine pitchers on the night.

The Bobcats fell to 31-17 overall with the loss, while Texas A&M improved to 33-16 on the season.

Texas State starter Travis Ballew (3-2) was charged with the loss after allowing seven earned runs over three innings on the mound. Brandon Parent (2-4) earned his second win of the season after throwing three innings of scoreless ball in relief.

Tyler Sibley (2-for-3) and Andrew Stumph (2-for-3) both finished with a pair of hits for the Bobcats, while Jeff McVaney was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Texas A&M wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, jumping out to a 4-0 lead following the first inning. However, the Bobcats would begin to chip away in the top of the second when a sacrifice fly from McVaney plated Stumph from third base for the Bobcats' first run. Stumph led off the inning with a walk before moving to third base on Casey Kalenkosky's 13th double of the season.

Texas State came back to tie the game in the top of the third inning as the Bobcats used five hits to score three runs and even the score at 4-4. Christian Gallegos and Sibley hit back-to-back singles into center field to begin the inning before Bret Atwood bunted his way on to load the bases with no outs. Kyle Kubitza grounded into an RBI fielder's choice to bring home Gallegos for the first run of the inning, and Stumph followed with an RBI single to left field to make the score 4-3. McVaney then capped off the inning with a single to right field that brought home Kubtiza from second base after he was able to evade the tag from the Aggies' catcher on his slide into home.

The Bobcats scored for the third consecutive inning in the top of the fourth as the team took its first and only lead of the game. Designated hitter Clint Vest led off the frame with a single to left field before Gallegos sacrificed the senior to second. Sibley then roped a double down the left field line to plate Vest for a 5-4 Texas State lead. The Bobcats nearly stretch their lead to two runs after Kubitza singled sharply into right field, but Sibley was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

The Texas State lead would be short lived as the Aggies scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the bottom of the fifth to grab a 9-5 advantage after five full innings.

The Aggies offense continued to pile it on, scoring four in the bottom of the seventh to take a 15-5 lead, and the Bobcat offense could not answer over the final innings as Texas A&M took the 10-run victory.

Texas State returns to Southland Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Nicholls. Game one of the series is on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Bobcat Ballpark. The series finale will be Senior Day for the Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
