Game Notes
San Marcos, Texas – Texas State will play host to Houston this weekend when the Cougars come to San Marcos for a three-game series beginning on Friday at Bobcat Ballpark. The two teams will meet on Friday for the first game of the series at 6:30 p.m. before playing at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Bobcats enter the weekend with a 9-3 overall record, while Houston comes in sporting a 7-6 mark. Texas State is coming off a 6-4 loss to No. 17 Baylor, and Houston defeated Texas Southern, 13-3, on Wednesday night to move one game above .500.
Starting pitchers for the weekend will be Carson Smith (1-1, 2.63 ERA) on Friday, Mitchell Pitts (2-0, 3.86) on Saturday and Colton Turner (3-0, 3.38) on Sunday. All three pitchers tied or set new career highs for strikeouts in a game last weekend as the Bobcats swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Houston's starters for Friday and Sunday have yet to be determined, but the Cougars will send Jordan Lewis (1-0, 2.25) to the mound on Saturday to make his fourth start of the season.
Leading the Bobcats offensively thus far in 2011 has been Tyler Sibley and Casey Kalenkosky. Sibley leads the team with a .444 batting average and six stolen bases, while Kalenkosky has team-highs of three home runs and 17 RBIs.
John Cannon and Chase Jensen are the offensive leaders for the Cougars. Cannon has a team-high .406 batting average though 13 games, while Jensen is tied for the team lead with two home runs to go along with a .367 batting average.

Series Sweep
The Bobcats swept Houston on the road to begin the 2010 season. The first win of the weekend marked the team's first win in Houston since the 2001 season.
Last Home Win
The Bobcats last home win against the Cougars came on February 11, 1995 when Texas State defeated Houston in the second game of a doubleheader by a score of 5-4.
