2010: Named to the American Baseball Coaches Association South Central Region First Team, after earning Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and All-Southland Conference First Team accolades … was invited to the Team USA Trials following the season … posted a 10-4 record and 3.10 earned run average as he struck out team-high 94 batters while throwing six complete games … three of the complete games were shutouts to tie the team single-season record … held opponents to a .241 batting average and a total of 11 extra-base hits … was especially effective against right-handed batters, holding them a .216 batting average … made 13 starts and also came out of the bullpen on 11 occasions, recording three saves in the process … struck out a season-high 10 batters in a complete game victory against Northwestern State (4/23) … did not allow an earned run in five consecutive appearances, including three starts, from the end of April to the middle of May … had at least seven strikeouts on seven different occasions … threw a two-hitter against McNeese State (5/7) while posting nine strikeouts.

High School: Letterwinner at Midland Christian under head coach Dale Redman ... named TAPPS 5A All-District Second Team in 2007 ... earned district MVP and first team all-state honors in 2008 ... also played basketball for the Mustangs and earned first team all-district honors in 2008.

Personal: Son of Maressa and Jeff Smith ... born on October 19 ... has two siblings, Morgan and Garrett ... major is exercise and sports science.
