Texas State Closes NCAA Championships with Five All-America Honors

EUGENE, Ore.— Texas State track & field concluded competition at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday at Hayward Field, highlighted by senior Aiden Hayes earning Second Team All-America honors in the men's high jump.

Hayes cleared 2.16 meters (7 feet, 1 inch) to place ninth overall, finishing one position shy of First Team All-America recognition. The senior closes out his collegiate career as one of the most accomplished high jumpers in Texas State history, adding another national honor to his resume.

Also competing in Friday's high jump final was freshman Tshephang Dankuru, who advanced to the national championship field after earning First Team All-America honors during the indoor season.

"We came into the season with some big goals, and I'm proud that we were able to accomplish many of them," head coach John Frazier said. "Today wasn't our best day, but I'm extremely proud of this team and the way they continued to compete. Yesterday's performances, highlighted by a national championship and another All-America finish in the hammer throw, are a great example of what this program is capable of. We'll use that momentum and continue working hard to reach even greater heights."

Texas State concluded its trip to Eugene with one NCAA national title, two First Team All-America honors and three Second Team All-America honors.

Junior Elisabet Runarsdottir led the way by capturing the NCAA women's hammer throw national championship with a career-best mark of 73.19 meters (240-1), while Lara Roberts earned First Team All-America honors with a sixth-place finish in the event.

Earlier in the week, Easton Hammond placed 16th in the decathlon with 7,360 points, while Charlize Goody finished 22nd in the women's javelin.

On the track, Ja'Shaun Lloyd placed 15th in the men's 110-meter hurdles preliminary round and Drew Donley finished 19th in the men's 200-meter preliminary round.

Texas State will next be represented by select student-athletes at the USATF U20 Championships, which will also be held at Hayward Field.
