Eight Bobcats Advance to NCAA Outdoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Texas State track and field concluded competition at the NCAA West First Round on Saturday, qualifying eight student-athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The Bobcats' group of national qualifiers includes Lara Roberts, Elisabet Runarsdottir, Charlize Goody, Aiden Hayes, Tshephang Dankuru, Ja'Shaun Lloyd, Drew Donley and Easton Hammond.

Texas State's women's throws squad played a major role in the program's success at the regional meet. Roberts and Runarsdottir both advanced in the hammer throw after recording top-12 finishes, while Goody secured her first career NCAA Outdoor Championships berth in the javelin. Goody highlighted the week with a school-record throw of 52.62 meters, finishing third overall.

On the men's side, Hayes and Dankuru continued Texas State's tradition of excellence in the high jump by each earning national qualifying positions. Hayes advanced to Eugene for the second consecutive season after finishing second with a clearance of 2.20 meters, while Dankuru secured a berth in his first collegiate outdoor season by also clearing 2.20 meters.

Freshman hurdler Ja'Shaun Lloyd added another milestone to his breakout season. Lloyd qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 110-meter hurdles after running a school-record 13.28 seconds, lowering his own program record and continuing a season that has established him as one of the nation's top hurdlers.

Donley earned his spot in Eugene in the men's 200 meters, clocking 20.59 seconds to advance through the regional round and continue his record-setting campaign.

Texas State's final national qualifier, Hammond, secured his NCAA Outdoor Championships berth earlier this season in the decathlon. Hammond enters the national meet ranked seventh in the nation after totaling 7,823 points at the Bobcat Invitational in April.

The eight qualifiers represent Texas State's largest group of NCAA Outdoor Championships participants under Head Coach John Frazier's tenure and will compete for national honors beginning June 10 in Eugene.
