Bobcats Claim Historic Sweep at Sun Belt Indoor Championships

Bobcats win men’s and women’s indoor titles for first time in program history

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Texas State men's and women's track & field swept the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships for the first time in program history.

The women's team secured back-to-back conference titles, totaling 126.5 points to win the championship. The men's team captured its first indoor conference title since 2016, finishing with 140.5 points.

It marks the first time in program history Texas State has won both the men's and women's Sun Belt Indoor Championships in the same season.

For the men's team, the title marks its second Sun Belt Conference indoor championship in program history and the first since 2016. The women's team secured its sixth Sun Belt indoor championship overall.

"This was a very satisfying competition on so many levels," head coach John Frazier said. "We had athletes who came in highly ranked and expected to perform, and they did exactly that. But what made this meet special was how many others stepped up, delivered big performances and scored valuable points for the team."

Texas State finished with 20 medals (8 gold, 7 silver, 5 bronze) and 27 individual scorers en route to sweeping the Sun Belt Indoor Championships.

Senior Abigail Parra captured two individual conference titles. She won the women's mile in a meet-record time of 4:43.08 and added gold in the 800 meters, crossing in 2:13.68.
