Thirty-five Bobcats enter the meet ranked in the Sun Belt top 10, including six conference leaders.

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track & field will compete in its final Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championship on Feb. 23–24 in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The two-day meet begins Monday at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon and continues Tuesday at 10 a.m. Competition throughout the championship will feature a combination of preliminary and semifinal track events alongside field event finals Monday, with Tuesday concluding remaining field events and all track finals.

The Texas State women enter as the defending Sun Belt indoor champions after scoring 108 points to claim last year's title. The men's team placed third in 2025 and is seeking its first conference indoor championship since 2016.

Entering the meet, 35 Bobcats rank inside the Sun Belt Conference top 10 in their respective events, including 22 athletes ranked among the conference's top five.

Six Texas State athletes currently lead the conference: Ja'Shaun Lloyd (60-meter and 60-meter hurdles), Tshephang Dankuru (high jump), Easton Hammond (heptathlon), Abigail Parra (mile), Melanie Duron (shot put) and Sophie Daugard (pentathlon).

According to the latest USTFCCCA Week 4 regional rankings, the Texas State men are ranked seventh in the South Central Region while the women sit ninth. Both squads rank first among Sun Belt Conference programs.

In the USTFCCCA EventSquad national rankings, Texas State's women's shot put group is ranked third nationally behind Nebraska and Michigan, while the men's 60-meter hurdles group ranks fifth nationally behind Arkansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Houston.
