SAN MARCOS, Texas— Two Texas State track and field athletes will represent the Bobcats on the national stage at the USATF Indoor Championships, held Feb. 28–March 1 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
The USATF Indoor Championships is one of the premier indoor track and field competitions in the United States, featuring many of the nation's top professional and elite collegiate athletes.
Hosted annually by USA Track & Field, the meet serves as the senior-level national championship and often plays a role in qualifying athletes for international competition.
The event provides competitors the opportunity to perform against Olympic-caliber talent on one of the sport's highest domestic stages.
Freshman Ja'Shaun Lloyd, a two-time 2026 Sun Belt Indoor champion, will compete in the men's 60-meter hurdles on Saturday with preliminaries scheduled for 3:01 p.m. Lloyd is also entered in the men's 60 meters on Sunday.
Senior Aiden Hayes, the 2026 Sun Belt Indoor high jump champion, will compete in the men's high jump on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Lloyd enters the national meet following one of the most dominant performances at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in recent history. He captured conference titles in the 60 meters (6.68 seconds) and 60-meter hurdles (7.91) while adding a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (21.07).
Lloyd totaled 29.5 points to earn men's high-point scorer honors, the highest individual total at the conference meet since 2011, helping lead Texas State to the team title.
Hayes also delivered a record-setting performance at the conference championships, clearing 2.22 meters to break the Sun Belt meet record and share the high jump title. His clearance is currently tied for fourth in the nation this season and secured his qualification for postseason competition.
The USATF Indoor Championships will be live streamed and
