Bobcats Post 18 Top-10 Finishes on Day Two at Jarvis Scott Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas— Texas State track & field wrapped up competition Saturday evening at the Jarvis Scott Invitational, posting a strong day-two showing highlighted by 18 top-10 finishes across the men's and women's teams.

Head coach John Frazier was pleased with his team's performance despite several athletes battling illness.

"We have a few people battling illness," Frazier said. "Overall we had great performances that will set us up for our SBC conference championships for both our men's and women's teams."

Freshman Tshephang Dankuru led the way with a first-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing a personal- and season-best 2.19 meters.

The mark secured his second high jump victory this season, and ranks No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference this season and moves him to sixth all-time in Texas State program history.

Senior Aiden Hayes followed with a runner-up finish in the event, posting a season-best clearance of 2.15m, which ties for third in the Sun Belt.

On the women's side of the high jump, Chinenye Uzoh and Kendall Lemm both recorded top-five finishes. Uzoh placed fourth with a 1.73m clearance, while Lemm finished fifth at 1.68m.

Texas State also saw strong performances in the women's shot put, where three Bobcats placed inside the top ten.

Senior Melanie Duron finished third with a throw of 16.61m, Sophia Harberer placed fourth at 15.22m, and Hannah Kemele took seventh with a mark of 14.70m.

Those performances give Texas State the top three marks in the Sun Belt this season.

On the men's side, Henry Buckles secured a ninth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 17.22m.

Several Bobcats delivered notable performances on the track as well.

Paige Archer posted a personal-best 23.98 seconds (24.05 altitude-adjusted) in the women's 200 meters, finishing 13th overall and moving to No. 4 in the Sun Belt this season.

In the women's 600 yards, Texas State recorded three top-10 finishes. Kathryn Evans placed fifth in 1:23.63, Victoria Amiadamen finished eighth in 1:23.89, and Kila Rodas rounded out the top ten with a time of 1:24.78.

Mihajlo Katanic finished fourth in the men's 600 yards with a time of 1:10.52 in his first meet of the indoor season.

Alexia Tiscareno Macias added another strong distance performance, finishing second in the women's mile in 4:49.57 (altitude-adjusted), moving her to No. 5 all-time in program history.

Texas State returns to action Feb. 23–24 at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
