LUBBOCK, Texas— Texas State track & field completed day one of competition Friday at the Jarvis Scott Invitational hosted by Texas Tech, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes and a school-record performance.

Freshman Ja'Shaun Lloyd delivered the standout performance of the day, breaking the Texas State program record in the men's 60-meter dash with a 6.60-second run in the semifinals. The previous record of 6.66 seconds was set in 2017 by De'Marcus Porter. The event finals were not contested.

Lloyd also led a strong showing in the men's 60-meter hurdles, finishing second in the finals with a time of 7.69 seconds. Teammates Joshua Taylor and Arveyon Davis added fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively, posting times of 7.83 and 7.92 seconds.

Anthony Sandoval added another top-10 result on the track, placing seventh in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:31.10.

In the field events, Elisabet Runarsdottir secured a runner-up finish in the women's weight throw with a mark of 19.64 meters, recorded on her opening attempt. 

On the men's side, Manfred Mannamaa placed sixth in the weight throw with a 19.42-meter effort.

Texas State also recorded two top-10 finishes in the men's long jump. 

Chris Preddie finished sixth in the A section with a jump of 7.25 meters, while Isaiah Kayembe placed fourth in the B section at 7.12 meters.

The Bobcats continue competition Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to conclude the Jarvis Scott Invitational.
