Track & Field Set for Jarvis Scott Invitational in Lubbock

Texas State Ranked No. 1 in Sun Belt, No. 8 in South Central Region by USTFCCCA

SAN MARCOS, Texas Texas State track and field continues its indoor season Friday and Saturday when it travels to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Jarvis Scott Invitational hosted by Texas Tech at their Sports Performance Center.

The two-day meet begins Friday at 2 p.m. with the women's pole vault and Section B of the men's and women's long jump. Competition resumes Saturday at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's 200 meters alongside the men's pole vault, with events scheduled throughout both days.

The Jarvis Scott Invitational will mark Texas State's final meet before the Bobcats travel to Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 23-24 for the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships.

Entering the meet, 31 Bobcats rank inside the top 10 of the Sun Belt Conference in their respective events, including 20 athletes ranked inside the conference's top five.

Seven Texas State athletes currently lead the conference: Ja'Shaun Lloyd (60-meter hurdles), Drew Donley (60 meters), Ivan Guzman (5,000 meters), Easton Hammond (heptathlon), Abigail Parra (3,000 meters and mile), Melanie Duron (shot put) and Sophie Daugard (pentathlon).

Texas State's women's 4x400 relay team — Brookins, Farrell, Evans and Amiadamen — also holds the conference's fastest time this season at 3:43.33.

According to the USTFCCCA Week 3 rankings, both Texas State men's and women's teams are ranked eighth in the South Central Region and first among Sun Belt Conference programs.

Texas State last competed at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, where Abigail Parra broke the program record in the mile while winning the event and earning her second Sun Belt Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season. Chris Preddie (high jump) and Caden Ohara (pole vault) also captured event titles.

Both days of the Jarvis Scott Invitational will be streamed on ESPN+, with coverage scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday. Live results will also be available.
