Texas State to Compete in the Charlie Thomas Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas Texas State track and field continues its indoor season Friday and Saturday when they travel to College Station to compete in the Charlie Thomas Invitational at the R.A. Murray Track Center.

The two-day meet begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the women's weight throw. Competition resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. with the men's weight throw. 

Events will run throughout both days, and the meet will feature Texas State's first heptathlon and pentathlon competitions of the indoor season.

The Charlie Thomas Invitational will include 17 teams: Abilene Christian, Arizona State, East Texas A&M, Houston, Rice, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, SMU, South Plains, Texas A&M, Texas Southern, Texas State, UCF, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley, UTSA and Western Texas.

Entering the meet, 21 Bobcats rank inside the top 10 of the Sun Belt Conference in their respective events. 

Five Texas State athletes currently lead the conference: Ja'Shaun Lloyd (60-meter hurdles), Drew Donley (60 meters), Abigail Parra (3,000 meters), Tshephang Dankuru (high jump) and Melanie Duron (shot put).

The Bobcats last competed in College Station at the Ted Nelson Invitational, where Parra and Duron both earned Sun Belt Conference weekly honors. Duron was named Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while Parra collected Women's Track Athlete of the Week recognition.

Both days of the Charlie Thomas Invitational will be streamed on SECN+, with coverage beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Live results will also be available.
