Parra Earns Second Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week Honor

SAN MARCOS, Texas Texas State senior Abigail Parra has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following a record-breaking performance at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in College Station.

Parra earned the honor after winning the women's mile in 4:40.41, breaking her own Texas State program record set last indoor season.

Her mile time ranks first in the Sun Belt Conference and currently sits fifth in the South Central Region.

Through her first two meets of the 2026 indoor season, Parra has claimed two event titles, set two program records and earned two SBC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors.

Parra previously earned weekly conference honors after placing third at the Ted Nelson Invitational in the women's 3,000 meters with a program-record time of 9:29.24. 

That 3,000 meter mark also ranks first in the Sun Belt and currently stands 12th in the South Central Region.

Parra and the Bobcats return to competition Feb. 13–14 at the Jarvis Scott Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
