SAN MARCOS, Texas – Friday night will see the Texas State soccer team (10-3-7) play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011. The Bobcats will take on the region's No. 5 seed Baylor (12-4-4) with kickoff set for 7 p.m. from Betty Lou Mays Field.

About Texas State
To punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament saw Texas State knockout the defending Sun Belt Conference champions James Madison in penalty kicks followed by back-to-back 1-0 victories over South Alabama and ULM. This will be the Bobcats' sixth NCAA Tournament appearance with the first five resulting in losses in the first round.

Mady Soumare has scored a team-high six goals and added three assists. She has been efficient in her shot taking with 23 of her 29 attempts being on frame (.793). The Ghanan duo of
Constance Agyemang and
Helen Alormenu have scored five goals apiece.
Victoria Meza enters with four goals and three assists on the season after netting the lone goal in regulation in the Sun Belt quarterfinals against James Madison.

Pacing the team with eight assists is
Matsuri Tsutsui, who has also tacked on two goals. Her assist total is the most by a TXST player since 2013, tied for the most ever by a freshman in program history and tied for the third most ever recorded by a Bobcat. Second on the team with six assists is
Chloe Jones and Alormenu while
Alexis Montgomery has been credited with four.

Brooklyn Escobar has started 19 matches in goal. She sports a 1.01 GAA with 53 saves and a .757 save percentage. Her six shutouts are the second most ever by a Bobcat freshman goalkeeper.
Maude Rouanet has appeared in six matches and made her lone start of the season against the Dukes. The graduate transfer has a 1.77 GAA, 18 saves and a .750 save percentage.

About Baylor
The Bears are coming off a Big XII Conference Tournament that saw them advance on penalty kicks against Texas Tech before falling 4-0 to BYU in the semifinals. At home this season, Baylor is 7-1-0 with the lone loss being a 1-0 contest against the Red Raiders on Sept. 19. In those eight matches, the Bears have outscored opponents 16-4.

Tyler Isgrig leads the team with nine goals, seven assists, 25 points, 52 shots, 23 shots on goal and four match-winning tallies. Aryanna Jimison comes in with four goals and six assists while Callie Conrad has found the back of the net four times. Scoring three goals apiece has been Kai Hayes (2 A), Alysiah Lockette (3 A) and Theresa McCullough (5 A).

Between the posts, Azul Alvarez has started all 20 matches and played 1,797:46 out of a possible 1,820 minutes. She has allowed 17 goals for a 0.85 GAA while making 78 saves for a .821 save percentage while also posting nine shutouts.

Series History
Baylor leads the all-time series 5-0-2 after winning the regular season meeting 4-2 back on Sept. 7. Isgrig scored twice and the Bears were also assisted by two Texas State own goals.

When playing in Waco, the Bobcats are 0-4-1 all-time. The lone draw was a 2-2 contest on Sept. 15, 2024. That night saw Alormenu score the tying tally with 11 seconds left on the clock in her collegiate debut. Once before the teams have met in the NCAA Tournament that saw Texas State fall 3-0 in the first round in Waco on Nov. 12, 2011.
