Holeman Signs Contract Extension Through 2030

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off one of the best seasons in program history, Texas State soccer head coach Steve Holeman has signed a five-year contract extension through the 2030 season.

"The support from our administration has been outstanding and I'm thankful to be at a university that is so committed to excellence. Texas State and the San Marcos community have been amazing to us, and my family is excited to continue calling this place home," said Holeman. "We're thrilled about the direction of our program and are motivated to keep building as we enter a new era in the Pac-12."

Holeman guided the Bobcats to their first Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship in 2025. The title punched the team's ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 and the sixth appearance overall.

"2025 was a historic season for Texas State soccer. The first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in over a decade, two great results against SEC programs and the team set multiple records," said Director of Athletics Don Coryell. "Coach Holeman has elevated the Bobcat soccer program in his first four years, and I can't wait to see where he takes the team as we enter the Pac-12 era."

In his four seasons in San Marcos, Holeman has compiled a 43-21-18 record that includes three 10-plus wins seasons. The team went 20-8-12 in that time in Sun Belt play with back-to-back campaigns of just one loss.

This past year saw the Bobcats record their first two positive results ever against SEC programs with draws against then 19th-ranked Oklahoma and at Texas A&M. The team also set RPI program bests with the highest ranking ever of 38 on Oct. 3 and a final ranking of 59.

Texas State set program records with 45 assists and a .166 shot percentage in 2025 while also netting 42 goals to post back-to-back 40-goal seasons. It is the first time the program has scored 40 goals in consecutive campaigns since 2008-09.

In Holeman's four seasons in charge, the Bobcats have scored 145 goals. It is the most in a four-year span dating back to the final years as members of the Southland Conference.

Holeman and his staff have coached eight All-Sun Belt selections with three first-team honorees and six United Soccer Coaches All-Region picks. The team has also excelled in the classroom with 19 College Sports Communicator All-District Team honorees and saw Chloe Jones receive the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Elite Award, which honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA among participating players on the last day of the Sun Belt championship, while also being chosen as the Texas State Female Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 academic year.
