Four Bobcats Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Four Texas State soccer student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
 
Earning the honors were Angela Gatto, Chloe Jones, Jenny Ngankem and Kaylie Smith. It is a program record third team receiving the recognition for Jones while Gatto, Ngankem and Smith are first-time recipients of the accolade.
 
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify for the Academic All-District and All-American teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a minimum cumulative 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 90% of the team's competitions or start 66% of the institution's matches.
 
Gatto played in all 21 matches and made 20 starts for the Bobcats. She was on the pitch for 1,578 minutes and played all 90 minutes or more in nine times. The redshirt senior scored her lone goal of the season in the regular season meeting against Baylor. Gatto has earned a 3.91 GPA and is majoring in integrated studies.
 
For the fourth consecutive season, Jones started every match in the midfield for Texas State. She finished the season with one goal and six assists in 1,551 minutes of action. Her assist total tied for the second most on the team and tied for the ninth most ever in a campaign by a Bobcat.
 
Jones finished her Texas State career having started 82 games to tie the program record. The Lewisville, Texas native also ranks third in team history in assists (16), fourth in minutes (5,928) and sixth in matches played (82). The Sun Belt Conference's 2025 Elite Award winner has crafted a 3.94 GPA majoring in computer science.
 
Ngankem played in 20 matches and made four starts on the backline. The sophomore scored twice with both goals coming in a victory over Southern Miss that included an Olimpico goal from the right corner late in the contest. She sports a 3.57 GPA while majoring in pre-business.
 
Smith appeared and started in 20 matches with most of her action coming on the backline. She helped the Bobcats record seven shutouts. The Corpus Christi, Texas native finished the year with one goal and three assists in 1,509 minutes. She has earned a 3.66 GPA while majoring in marketing.
