Cross Country Competes Friday in College Station

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State cross country will compete in its fourth meet of the season Friday, Oct. 17, at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M.

The Arturo Barrios Invitational will feature 38 schools, including Texas State.

The men's team will compete in an 8K race starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women's 6K race at 9:15 a.m.

The men's 8K lineup includes Eyan Calico, Jack Deelman, Henok Hagos, Nathan Morales, Elias Palmer, David Mendez-Serrato and Anthony Sandoval.

The women's 5K lineup features Rebecca Davila, Nyomi Garcia, Kimberly Gloria, Alexia Tiscareno Macias, Abigail Parra, Sofia Pena, Sanai Robinson and Destiney Rose.

This will be the final meet of the season before the Bobcats head to Foley, Alabama, to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Oct. 31.

The Bobcats are facing a quick turnaround, having just wrapped up their last meet Saturday, Oct. 11, at the DBU Old Glory Gallup in Fort Worth, Texas.

Texas State had a strong showing at the Old Glory Gallup, with the women's team placing third in the 5K race and the men's team placing sixth in the 8K race.

Alexia Tiscareno Macias and Henok Hagos received Sun Belt Runner of the Week honors for their performances at the Old Glory Gallup.

Macias won the women's 5K race with a personal-best time of 17:17.57, and Hagos finished the 8K race in fifth place with a time of 24:09.92.
