Texas State Places in Top 20 at Arturo Barrios Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas State cross country wrapped up its fourth meet of the season Friday morning at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, where the women's team placed 18th in the 6k and the men's team finished 19th in the 8k.

The women's 6k featured 38 schools and more than 300 runners, while the men's 8k included 35 schools and over 300 competitors.

The Bobcat women finished with 483 points and had two runners place inside the top 50. 

Senior Abigail Parra led Texas State with a 34th-place finish in 20:39.9. Junior Alexia Tiscareno Macias, the reigning Sun Belt Runner of the Week, crossed the line 42nd in 20:45.6.

On the men's side, Texas State scored 502 points and had one top-50 finisher. 


Henok Hagos, also named Sun Belt Runner of the Week, paced the Bobcats by placing 35th with a time of 23:54.5. Jack Deelman (110th, 24:43.2) and Anthony Parra (118th, 24:49.2) followed, both finishing within the top 150 runners.

The Bobcats will have nearly two weeks off before traveling to Foley, Alabama, to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 31.
