SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State's Alexia Tiscareno Macias and Henok Hagos have been named the Sun Belt Conference Runners of the Week, marking the first awards given to the cross country team this season.

These honors were awarded to Macias and Hagos following their standout performances at the DBU Old Glory Gallup in Fort Worth, Texas.

Junior Alexia Tiscareno Macias won the women's 5K at the Old Glory Gallup with a personal-best time of 17:17.57, surpassing her previous mark from the UIW Invitational by nearly 30 seconds.

As the meet champion, Macias was awarded a custom crowned cowboy hat. Her 5K victory came against a competitive field of 340 runners representing 40 schools.

This win marks her second individual title of the season, adding to her victory at the UIW Twilight. She also finished fourth at Texas State's second meet of the season, the UIW Invitational.

Sophomore Henok Hagos made his season debut at the Old Glory Gallup after missing the first two meets for personal reasons and he didn't miss a beat.

Hagos led the men's squad with a fifth-place finish in the 8K, clocking a time of 24:09.92 against a field of 400 runners representing 40 schools.

He'll look to carry that momentum into the Bobcats' final meet before the Sun Belt Championship.

Texas State returns to action Friday, Oct. 17, at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M.
