John Frazier, Elisabet Runarsdottir, Daniel Harrold and Lara Roberts, all earned SBC Postseason Awards

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Four members of the Texas State track and field program earned Sun Belt Conference postseason awards for the 2024 outdoor track and field season.

Texas State Director of Track and Field/Cross Country John Frazier was named the women's track coach of the year; Elisabet Runarsdottir was named the women's field performer of the year; Daniel Harrold earned the men's track performer of the year; and Lara Roberts picked up women's freshman of the year.

John Frazier – Women's Coach of the Year

Under the direction of Frazier, the Texas State women's track and field won its first Sun Belt Conference championship since 2018 and collected 10 podium finishes, including three individual titles.

He has led the Bobcats to having the No. 2 ranked women's hammer throw event squad in the country, made up of the No. 1 ranked women's hammer thrower Elisabet Runarsdottir and the No. 1 ranked freshman hammer thrower Lara Roberts.

The women's team also has the No. 9 ranked discus throw and shot put event squads in the country.

Elisabet Runarsdottir - Women's Field Performer of the Year

Runarsdottir earned the Women's Field Performer of the Year after having an amazing season with the Bobcats. She has been ranked No.1 in the hammer throw since the beginning of the season and broke the Icelandic national record twice, with throws of 70.33m/230-9 and 70.04m/229-9.

She won the SBC championship in the hammer throw for the second year straight, with a mark of 69.08m/226-8 and has placed in the top-2 at six meets this season.

She is also the only female athlete in the country to record two marks of over 70 meters this season.

She became the third Bobcat to win the Women's Field Performer of the Year award since Texas State joined the SBC in 2013.

Daniel Harrold – Men's Track Performer of the Year

Harrold was named the Men's Track Performer of the year, after a season in which he recorded five of the fastest times in school history for the 110m hurdles and sits ranked No. 6 in the country and No. 5 in the West region for the event.

At the SBC Outdoor Championships, he set the Texas State record, Sun Belt Conference meet record and ULM's facility record in the finals of the event, when he recorded a 13.45 and finished in first.

He was also a part of the men's 4x100 relay along with, Shawn Collins, Dominick Yancy and Taahir Kelly, that placed second at the SBC Outdoor Championships and recorded the fourth best time in Texas State history (39.66).

He is the first athlete in Texas State history to win the SBC Men's Track Performer of the Year award and is the first Bobcat to win the award for both indoors and outdoors.

Lara Roberts – Women's Freshman of the Year

Roberts was named the SBC Women's Freshman of the Year after being ranked the No. 1 freshman in the country in the hammer throw for the duration of the outdoor season.

At the SBC Outdoor Championships, she placed second with a mark of 65.28m/214-2 and became the only freshman in the country to record four marks over 65 meters this season. She is ranked No. 15 overall, with her PR mark of 65.98m/216-2.

She joins her teammate Runarsdottir as the only Texas State athletes to win the SBC Women's Freshman of the Year Award.

Runarsdottir, Harrold and Roberts, will all be present at the NCAA West Preliminary Round next week in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
