Hayes and O'Riley Finish Tied for Second in the Men's High Jump

As a team the Bobcats placed 21st on the men's side

EUGENE, Ore. – On day three of the 2025 Track and Field National Championships, Texas State athletes Aiden Hayes and Kason O'Riley became the first Bobcats since Charles Austin in 1990 to finish on the podium in the men's high jump.

The pair of jumpers tied for second overall in the event and both cleared the 2.20m/7-2.5 bar.

This marked both the fourth and fifth time in Texas State history a high jumper has placed second or better in the event at an NCAA Championship meet. The pair joins Charles Austin and Marion Strong.

Both Hayes and O'Riley earned their first NCAA First Team All-American honors as well due to their second-place finish.

Also earning All-American status on day three of the championship meet was Chris Preddie, who placed 18th in the men's triple jump. This marked the second time this meet that Preddie has earned All-American honors, as he earned Second Team status in the men's long jump.

Preddie joined Brian Veal as the only Texas State athlete in the men's program to ever earn multiple All-American honors at a single championship meet.

As a team, the Bobcats finished tied for 21st overall with 24 total points. Texas State scored the third-highest total among non-P4 teams. This marked the 10th time in program history the Bobcats have scored points on the men's side at a championship meet and marked their best finish since 1995.
