EUGENE, Ore. – Day two of the NCAA National Championships saw two Bobcats, Lara Roberts (hammer throw) and Melanie Duron (shot put), earn All-American status for the second time in their careers.
Roberts placed third in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 70.42m and became the third Bobcat in program history to place third or better in the event at the championship meet. Her mark went down as the ninth-best throw in TXST history. Her third-place finish gave her first team All-American honors and marked the second time in her career she has been named an All-American (second team 2024).
Going into the finals of the event, Roberts led with her mark of 70.42m but ended the day in third place behind athletes from Georgia and Texas Tech. She also became the 14th athlete in program history to make multiple appearances at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships (2024 & 2025).
To conclude the day for the Bobcats, Duron placed 18th in the women's shot put with a mark of 16.59m/54-5.25. She is the first Texas State athlete to earn All-American honors in the women's shot put since Alyssa Wilson in 2022.
This marked the second time in her career that Duron has earned All-American honors. She earned honorable mention All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this year.
Next up for Texas State is the men's jump squad. The Bobcats have Kason O'Riley and Aiden Hayes set to compete in the high jump tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. CT, and Chris Preddie will make his second appearance of the meet in the men's triple jump at 7:10 p.m. CT.
