AUSTIN, Texas – Elisabet Runarsdottir (women's hammer throw) and
Dominick Yancy (men's 400 meters), were the two Bobcats to record first-place finishes on the final day of the Texas Invitational.
"We had many solid performances today for the Bobcats," said Texas State Director of Track and Field/Cross Country
John Frazier. "There will be lots of hard work ahead of us as we prepare for our championship season."
Runarsdottir recorded a throw of 70.07m/229-9 to win the hammer throw and became the only athlete in the NCAA to record multiple throws over 70 meters this season.
Lara Roberts, the No. 1 ranked freshman in the country, placed second in the event and set a new PR with a throw of 65.89m/216-2.
Senior Bobcat,
Lauryn Small placed fourth in the event and recorded a new PR of 57.35m/188-2. Small surpassed her previous PR of 56.27m/184-7, which she set during the 2023 season.
Yancy placed first in the men's 400 meters, with a season-best time of 46.47 and is now ranked third in the Sun Belt Conference for the event. He also placed ninth in the 100 meters and recorded a new PR (all conditions) of 10.34, which ranked him third in the SBC for the event.
Aiden Hayes, was the third Bobcat to find the podium on day two of the meet. Hayes placed third in the men's high jump, with a mark of 2.05m/6-8.75. His season-best jump of 2.14m/7-0.25 has him ranked fourth in the SBC going into the conference meet.
In the women's high jump,
Chinenye Uzoh placed fifth and recorded a new PR of 1.70m/5-7. Uzoh is ranked 10th in the SBC heading into the conference meet.
After setting the school record in the women's 1500 meters on day one of the meet, Parra recorded a PR in the 800 meters on day two. She recorded a time of 2:10.57 and placed sixth overall.
Texas State recorded 17 top-10 finishes on day two of the Texas Invitational.
Next up for the Bobcats is the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Monroe, Louisiana. The meet takes place May 9-11 and will be streamed via ESPN+.
