SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track and field placed two event groups among the nation's top five in the USTFCCCA Checkpoint One #EventSquad rankings, highlighted by the men's 110-meter hurdles squad ranking No. 1 in the nation.

The Bobcats' 110-meter hurdles group leads the country with a 13.97-second average, ahead of Iowa State (14.22), Colorado State (14.30), Houston (14.36) and Indiana State (14.39).

The unit features Ja'Shaun Lloyd, Joshua Taylor, Arveyon Davis and Philip Reed. Lloyd, Taylor and Davis currently hold three of the top five times in the Sun Belt Conference, ranking No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

At the Charles Austin Classic, the Bobcats swept the podium in the 110-meter hurdles. Lloyd claimed first place in 13.81 seconds, followed by Taylor in second (13.89) and Davis in third (13.98).

Texas State's women's shot put group also earned a top-three national ranking, placing third with a 14.38-meter average. The Bobcats trail Michigan (15.81) and Virginia (15.12), while ranking ahead of Army (14.32) and Northwestern State (14.13).

The group includes Sophia Haberer, Hannah Kemele, Sophie Daugard and Stephanie Williams. Haberer and Kemele currently rank No. 2 and No. 3 in the Sun Belt, respectively.
