Bobcat's Record Nine Podium Finishes at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational

Dominick Yancy, Aiden Hayes and Utitofon Sam place first in their respective events

Albuquerque, N.M. – The Texas State track and field team picked up nine podium finishes at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational on Saturday, including first place finishes by sprinter Dominick Yancy, high jumper Aiden Hayes and weight thrower Utitofon Sam.

"Each event group performed at a great level," said Texas State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country John Frazier. "I am proud of our entire team with four first-place finishes and numerous PR's. Our sprinters and jumpers will get a rest week while our throwers and distance runners will go to Houston next week."

Yancy was back to his dominating ways as he finished first in the men's 200 meters with the second-best time in school history 20.67. He also was a part of the men's 4x400-meter relay that, along with Shawn Collins, Brain West and Taahir Kelly, placed second and recorded the second-best time in school history with a 3:08.19.

Daniel Harrold continued his record-setting campaign in the 60-meters hurdles. In the prelims, Harrold recorded a 7.72, the second-best time in program history. He finished third in the finals with a time of 7.80, setting the eighth-best time in school history. He now holds nine of the program's top-10 fastest times.

In the jumps, Hayes recorded a mark 2.06m/6-9 and placed first after a jump off with two other athletes.

Chris Preddie also saw the podium, as he marked 15.22m/49-11.25 in the men's triple jump and placed second.

The sophomore duo of Sam and Elisabet Runarsdottir, finished first and second in the women's weight throw. Sam recorded a personal-best throw of 19.59m/64-3.25, which is the eighth-best throw in school history. Runarsdottir also recorded a personal-best of 19.27m/63-2.75, the 10th-best throw in program history.

Freshman Precious Okougbodu saw the podium for the second week in a row in the women's triple jump after recording a jump of 12.46m/40-10.5 and placing third.

In total, the Bobcats recorded 12 PRs during the meet.
