SETTING THE SCENE
• Texas State dropped its first game of the season at Air Force 78-71. The Bobcats struggled offensively vs. the Falcons, shooting 45.3 percent from the floor (29-of-64), 16.7 percent from 3-point range (3-of-18), and 50.0 percent from the free throw line (10-of-20).
• Last game, sophomore guard
Mason Harrell scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting that included two triples.
• Senior guard
Nijal Pearson finished with 14 points, four rebounds and one assist, block, and steal, while junior guard
Marlin Davis scored a season-best 11 points and had game-highs of four assists and two steals.
• The last time the Bobcats were at home, they defeated Texas Lutheran 103-45 (Nov. 5).

• Pearson became the program's all-time leader in career-made 3-point field goals Saturday vs. Air Force. He now has 178 triples in his career, passing Clay Click (1998-02).
• The three-year letterwinner has 1,554 career points which rank No. 5 all-time in program history. He is 16 points shy of passing Brandon Bush (2005-09). Bush is currently No. 4 on the list with 1,569 points.
• The Beaumont, Texas native now has 141 career steals, ranking No. 5 in school history. Ryan White (2007-11) is at No. 4 with 154 career steals.
• Pearson was named to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List on Nov. 5. Pearson appeared on the Lou Henson Mid-Season Watch List last year. He was also picked as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in a couple of publications including the
Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook and
Street & Smith's.
• Pearson was tabbed to the 2019-20 Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team by the league office after garnering All-Sun Belt First Team honors in the 2018-19 season.
SCOUTING PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
• After opening the season with a 100-62 victory vs. Jarvis Christian, Prairie View A&M (PV) dropped a four-point decision at Central Florida 73-69. With two games down, PV shoots 47.1 percent from the field, 45.2 from 3-point range, and converts on 69.1 percent of its free throws. The team averages 35.0 rebounds per game and has forced their opponents into 39 total turnovers with 21 of them coming off of steals.
• The Panthers have four players scoring in double figures beginning with senior guard Chancellor Ellis who averages 21 points per game. Ellis has a 58.3 field goal percentage that includes a 61.1 clip from deep (11-of-18).
• Senior guards Gerard Andrus, Antione Lister, and Darius Williams follows with 14, 11.5, and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Andrus averages 4.0 rebounds per game, Lister shoots better than 40.0 percent from the field and 3-point range, and Williams has 3.5 rebounds per game to go with three steals this season.
• The Panthers are picked to repeat as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) after winning the league behind a 17-1 record to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. PV will return seven players from last season.
• Headlining the returners is senior Devonte Patterson who was named the 2019-20 SWAC Preseason Player of the Year in addition to the All-SWAC First Team. Patterson averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last season and was tabbed to the 2018-19 SWAC All-Tournament team. The Bridgeport, Texas native has yet to play this season.
• Andrus was honored to the All-SWAC Preseason Second Team after averaging 10 points on 47.4 shooting from the floor and 5.7 rebounds per game last year.
SERIES HISTORY
• TXST leads 11-3 in the all-time series vs. PV and is on a five-game winning streak.
• The Bobcats are a perfect 9-0 at home vs. the Panthers.
• Tuesday night is the first matchup between the two teams since Dec. 10, 2016, where the Bobcats won 64-57. Pearson, a freshman at the time, matched a game-high 14 points and led all players with nine rebounds in the win.
UP NEXT
• Texas State will travel north I-35 for an 8 p.m. tip Nov. 15 vs. No. 16/18 Baylor at the Ferrell Center. The Bears are one of five opponents on the Bobcats 2019-20 schedule that reached the NCAA Tournament last season.
