LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The Texas State women's tennis team suffered a 5-0 loss against UNLV on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
Texas State's lone victory on Sunday came in doubles play when Katy Collins and Ammaarah Tim combined for a 6-0 shutout against Cristina Moroi and Mercedes Lopez in the No. 3 match. The victory gives Collins seven victories in doubles matches this season and that ranks second among team leaders.
 
UNLV won the other two doubles matches to capture the team point. First, Yadira Rubio and Ana Perez fell 6-1 against Aiwen Zhu and Iren Kotseva in the No. 1 match, while Eva Dench and Pippa Carr suffered a 6-3 loss against Carol Zi Yang and Paola Artiga on court 2.
 
The Rebels also had four victories in singles matches. Tim suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss against Kotseva on court six, while Rubio suffered a 6-2, 6-2 setback against Artiga on court 3.
 
UNLV clinched the victory when Collins suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss versus Anna Bogoslavets in the No. 4 match. Sunday's final decision came on court two where Carr suffered a 7-5, 6-0 loss against No. 61-ranked Yang.
 
The loss drops Texas State's record to 4-8 while UNLV improves to 12-0 this season.
 
The Bobcats will play their next match against I-35 rival UTSA next Friday, March 11, at the UTSA Tennis Center with doubles matches beginning at 4 p.m.
