Bobcats Fall 4-1 to Arkansas State in Final Road Match

JONESBORO, Ark.— Texas State women's tennis fell 4-1 to Arkansas State on Sunday at the A-State Tennis Courts, dropping to 12-7 overall on the season. 

The loss marked the final road and conference match of the season for the Bobcats. Texas State finished 4-5 on the road and 3-2 in Sun Belt regular-season play.

Doubles
Texas State dropped the doubles point, as Arkansas State secured victories on courts one and three. 

Emily Niers and Ireland Simme fell 6-1 on court one to Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi. 

The Bobcats earned their lone doubles win on court two, where Stoney Cooks and Charlotte Roesch defeated Anna Grigoreva and Sarah Millard, 6-3.


On court three, the duo of Tadiwa Mauchi and Chantajah Mills came up short in a 7-5 decision against Helena Bueno and Hanmare McAslin.


Singles
In singles play, Arkansas State secured the victory with wins on courts six, four, one and five. 

Anastasia Radovanovic was the first to finish, falling 6-1, 6-0 on court six to Sarah Millard. 

Charlotte Roesch followed with Texas State's lone point of the match, earning a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over Meghna Arun Kumar on court four.


On court one, Emily Niers dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Anna Grigoreva, before Arkansas State clinched the match on court five as Stoney Cooks fell 6-4, 6-1 to Carla Muro Castellvi.


Matches on courts two and three were left unfinished after the Red Wolves secured the team victory. 

Texas State returns home for its regular-season finale on April 18 at 10 a.m. against Tyler Junior College at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
