Bobcats Handle UTSA Behind Dominant Singles Play

SAN MARCOS– Texas State women's tennis defeated UTSA, 4-2, Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The Roadrunners claimed the doubles point, taking wins on courts one and three to open the match. Texas State responded in singles, winning four courts to secure the victory.

Texas State also recognized seniors Emily Niers and Ireland Simme prior to the match as part of Senior Day ceremonies.

Doubles
On court one, Olivia Collins and Ireland Simme fell to UTSA's Castaneda Guerrero and Valeria Sanchez, 7-6 (7-3). 

UTSA clinched the point on court three as Emily Niers and Anastasia Radovanovic dropped a 6-4 decision to Aoka Nagasawa and Akari Tomoyose.

The match on court two between Stoney Cooks and Charlotte Roesch and UTSA's Celine Absawi and Giuliana Giardina went unfinished at 6-6.

Singles
On court one, Emily Niers earned a straight-sets win over Celine Absawi, 6-2, 6-1. Ireland Simme followed on court two with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Valeria Sanchez.

Tadiwa Mauchi added another point on court three, defeating Akari Tomoyose, 6-4, 6-0.

Charlotte Roesch clinched the match for the Bobcats on court four with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win over Aoka Nagasawa. UTSA's lone singles point came on court five.

Texas State improves to 11-6 on the season with a perfect 6-0 record when playing at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. 

The Bobcats were scheduled to host Tyler Junior College Saturday morning at 10 a.m., but that match has been postponed due to inclement weather in the area.
