LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Texas State women's tennis team jumped out to an early lead and held on for its fourth win of the season when the Bobcats edged Southern Utah by a score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Bobcats earned the victory by winning  the team doubles point and three of the six singles matches.
 
Texas State's first victory on Saturday came in the No. 2 doubles match when juniors Eva Dench and Pippa Carr teamed up for a 6-1 victory over Evgenia Marushko and Teresa De Enrique-Schmidt.

Then, Katy Collins combined with Ammaarah Tim to earn the team doubles point when they beat Megan Bell and Charity Sagiao by a score of 6-2 on court three..In the final doubles match, Yadira Rubio and Ana Perez suffered a 7-5 loss against Veronkia Rogova and Laura Martin on court one.
 
Texas State also split the six singles matches to clinch its fourth win as Perez, Collins and Rubio won their matches in straight sets.
 
Perez recorded her fourth straight victory this season when she shut out Bell by a score of 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 match. Then Collins won a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Martin-Lozano on number-four court. Rubio won the deciding point with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over De Enrique Smith on court three.
 
The win improves Texas State's record to 4-7 this season as the Bobcats conclude their trip to Las Vegas with a match against UNLV on Sunday at 10 a.m.
