SAN MARCOS, Texas— Ireland Simme and Olivia Collins were named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week after posting an undefeated weekend on court one.

The honor comes after the duo went 2-0, opening with a 6-3 victory over Troy's Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis before closing the weekend with a 6-2 win against Georgia State's Zeynep Erbakan and Maria Paredes.

Simme and Collins have continued to perform at a high level throughout the spring season, improving to 9-2 on court one while extending their current win streak to four matches.

One of the pair's two losses came in the season opener against Wichita State, falling 6-4 to the nationally ranked tandem of Giorgia Roselli and Xin Tong Wang. 

Their other loss came in a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak decision against FIU's Viktorie Hazmukova and Katerina Mandelikova.

Prior to the loss to FIU, Simme and Collins had put together a six-match winning streak.

This marks Simme's second Sun Belt weekly honor, as she was previously named Women's Tennis Player of the Week in Week 3.

The duo will look to continue its strong play this weekend as Texas State travels to Louisiana to face Louisiana Tech and Louisiana.

Simme and Collins' match on Saturday against Louisiana Tech will be streamed on YouTube with commentary as part of ITA College Tennis Weekend.
