SAN MARCOS, Texas – The last non-conference game of the season sees the Texas State men's basketball team travel to New Orleans to take on Tulane at 1 p.m. on Friday in Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse.
Entering the game, the Bobcats are 6-5 on the year while the Green Wave are 3-8.
Last Time Out
Texas State is coming off a 50-point victory over Howard Payne on Tuesday in which four players reached double-figures. Leading the way was
Maljhum McCrea with a career-high 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting in just 12 minutes of action. Also setting a career best in points with 11 was fellow big man
Immanuel King.
Nijal Pearson came close to a double-double with 14 points and game-high nine rebounds. Going 6-for-6 from the field with 12 points and adding three blocks was
Maxwell Starwood.
Despite being held to only two points,
Kavin Gilder-Tilbury helped out by dishing out a career-high seven assists. His three steals against the Yellow Jackets gave the senior 100 for his career and moved him into 10th place on the program's career list.
The Bobcats have posted three straight games shooting 70 percent or higher at the free throw line with a season-high 85.7 percent (18-21) coming on Tuesday.
Scouting Tulane
Tulane, a member of the American Athletic Conference, is coming off a 70-63 loss at home Monday night against McNeese State. The Green Wave has wins over Southeastern Louisiana, Southern and Southern Miss this season. At home this season, Tulane is 2-2.
Four players are averaging double-digit points led by Cameron Reynolds at 16.4. He also paces the team with 6.8 rebounds, 32 made three-pointers and 43.2 three-pointer percentage. Melvin Frazier enters netting 10.6 points per game and has recorded a team-high 16 steals.
Both Malik Morgan and Kain Harris are averaging 10.0 ppg. Morgan is handing out 3.9 assists per game while ranking second in rebounding (6.2), steals (12) and blocks (10). Harris has played in 10 games this season, coming off the bench in all of them, and is shooting a team best 44.7 percent from the field.
Ryan Smith paces the squad with 15 blocks and enters the contest putting up 8.6 ppg.
As a team, the Green Wave average 71.9 ppg while making 40.8 percent of their shots and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc. They grab 34.8 rpg but are getting outrebounded by 3.1 boards a contest.

Texas State won the only previous meeting between the teams in head coach
Danny Kaspar's first season in San Marcos on Nov. 29, 2013. The game took place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as part of the Cure UCD Classic with the Bobcats winning 70-52.
Gilder-Tilbury is the lone current Bobcat that played in the game. He netted 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, two rebounds, an assist and a steal in 24 minutes off the bench.
