San Marcos, Texas – No. 21 Texas State will open up Southland Conference play this weekend when the Bobcats travel to UT Arlington for a three-game set with the Mavericks at Clay Gould Ballpark. The two teams will open up with a 6:30 p.m. game on Friday before playing games at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Bobcats (9-3), ranked No. 21 in the latest Baseball America poll, will look to ride the momentum of their 3-2 walkoff win over No. 4 Rice last Tuesday going into the weekend. The team has won seven straight games and will look to begin conference play with a win for the sixth straight season.

 

UT Arlington began the season strong with wins over ranked opponents Texas and Oklahoma, but the Mavericks are coming off a pair of losses to Wichita State during the midweek to drop to 9-5.

 

Colton Turner, Travis Ballew and Kyle Finnegan are in line to make starts for the Bobcats. The trio has combined for a 7-0 record and sub-1.00 ERA through nine starts.
