San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams will open its 2012 outdoor schedule on Thursday for the TCU Invitational at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth.
“This is a meet to see where we are,” said head coach Dana Boone. “For some, this is their first time to run their specialty events. After this meet, we'll come back and make the adjustments.”
Joining the Bobcats in Fort Worth will be host TCU, Baylor, Houston, North Texas, SMU and UT Arlington.
“We've been working hard and trying to fix the mistakes we made indoors,” Boone said. “They're chomping at the bit to compete since it's been about three weeks. We're looking forward to starting the season.”

2012 Indoor Highlights
The Bobcats are coming off an impressive indoor season that included four new school records. Senior Steffanie Armstrong (3000 meters), junior Logan Cunningham (pole vault), sophomore James Johnson (200 meters) and freshman Charles Grethen (800 meters) all took over the top spot in the school record books for their events. At the Southland Conference Indoors, junior Kelsey Titzman captured her first conference title as she threw 15.02 meters (49-03.50) in the shot put, joining 11 other Bobcats who received all-conference honors.
Cunningham Earns All-America Accolades
Logan Cunningham collected All-America honors for the second time in his career as he was named to the First Team All-America squad following his performance at the NCAA Indoor Championships last week in Nampa, Idaho. Cunningham finished with a height of 5.40 meters (17-08.50) to tie for eighth place.
