Track & Field Set to Compete Across Three Meets in California This Week

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track & field returns to action this week in Southern California, where it will compete in a trio of meets from April 16-18, including the Bryan Clay Invitational, Mt. SAC Relays and Pacific Coast Invitational.

A select group of Bobcats will travel west to compete across the three meets.

Competition begins with the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, California, hosted by Long Beach State. The one-day meet is scheduled for April 16, with a group of Texas State throwers set to compete.

The Bobcats will also send five distance athletes to the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California. Hosted by Azusa Pacific, the meet spans three days from April 16-18.

Texas State will round out the weekend at the famous Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. Hosted by Mt. San Antonio College, the meet also runs April 16-18 and will serve as the primary competition for the Bobcats, with the majority of the traveling roster set to compete.

Texas State enters the week with strong momentum, highlighted by its positioning in the latest USTFCCCA Checkpoint 3 rankings.

In the South Central Region, the men's team is ranked No. 4, trailing only Texas A&M, LSU and Texas, while the women's team sits at No. 7 among a field dominated by SEC and Big 12 programs.

Within the Sun Belt Conference, the Texas State men lead the standings, while the women rank second behind Louisiana.

The Bobcats have also seen success in the USTFCCCA EventSquad rankings, with the men's 110-meter hurdles group ranked No. 2 nationally and the men's high jump group holding the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive week. The women's shot put group ranks No. 5 in the nation.

Individually, Texas State features three athletes ranked among the top three nationally in their respective events.

Aiden Hayes is ranked No. 2 in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.22 meters, Easton Hammond is No. 3 in the decathlon with 7,823 points, and Elisabet Runarsdottir holds the nation's top mark in the women's hammer throw at 71.41 meters.
