 Mount Pleasant, Mich. – Texas State was unable to come away with the win tonight, as it fell to Central Michigan on the road, 92-80. The Bobcats held the edge on the boards, but the Chippewas were able to earn the victory tonight.  
 Joel Wright recorded his third double-double of the season, 20 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Staff registered 18 points and four boards. Reid Koenen chipped in 12 points, while Corey Stern added 10 points.
 It was raining threes in McGuirk Arena tonight. Central Michigan (6-4) connected on 11 three-pointers, while Texas State (4-8) sank eight of its own. While the Chippewas used an outside game plan tonight, the Bobcats decided to go inside. Texas State dominated the paint, 42-32, which helped the Bobcat big men tremendously. 
 The Bobcats fed their post players, while also utilizing their shooters. After being down by as many as nine points in the second, Texas State cut the Chippewas lead to five points thanks to a Vonn Jones three-pointer from the top of the key.
 In the end, it was Central Michigan that used the free throw line to its advantage. The Chippewas made 31 attempts to the charity stripe, while Bobcats only made 10 trips. Central Michigan was aggressive tonight as it helped them earn the victory and their third win at home.
 Both teams shot over 50 percent in the first half, but the Chippewas used an 11-0 run to take a two-point advantage into the half (42-40). Texas State had an 11-0 run of its own earlier in the first, which helped the Bobcats grab a 21-15 lead midway through the first. 
 Central Michigan was led by Kyle Randall who scored 18 points and dished out four assists. Both Austin Keel and John Simons tallied 17 points apiece to round out CMU's top scorers. The Chippewas finished the game shooting 53.7 percent from the field and 74.2 percent from the charity stripe.
 Texas State returns to Strahan Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 29 when it opens WAC play versus San Jose State at 2 p.m. The Bobcats will host Utah State on New Year's Eve at 4 p.m.
