Game Notes
San Marcos, Texas – Texas State baseball will wrap up its 2011 regular season with a three-game series this Thursday through Saturday against UT Arlington. The Bobcats, who have already clinched the top seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament, and Mavericks will play the first of three games on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Clay Gould Ballpark.
Friday's game will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Saturday's game starting at 1:00 p.m. in Arlington.
No. 25 Texas State enters Thursday with a league-leading 23-7 mark in Southland Conference action to go along with a 34-18 overall record. UT Arlington (25-28) is currently in ninth place in the SLC with a 13-17 record. The Mavericks are one game back from the eighth and final spot in the SLC Tournament.
Starting for the Bobcats on Thursday will be junior Carson Smith (8-3, 1.94 ERA). On Friday, junior Mitchell Pitts (5-1, 3.87 ERA) will start, and sophomore Colton Turner (8-1, 4.22 ERA) will take the ball to begin the series finale on Saturday.
The Mavericks will send Lance Day (3-7, 3.50 ERA) to the mound on Thursday and Collin Reynolds (3-5, 5.02 ERA) on Friday. UT Arlington's pitcher for the series finale has yet to be announced.
