Bobcats Travel To Northwestern State For Three-Game Series

San Marcos, Texas – Head coach Ty Harrington needs two wins to reach 400 for his career, and his Bobcats will have three opportunities to get the 12th year coach to that milestone when the Texas State baseball team travels to Northwestern State for a three-game set with the Demons.

 

Texas State and Northwestern State will begin the series on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Game two of the series will be on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and the finale game of the set will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

 

Texas State (23-13) is coming off a series win against Southeastern Louisiana a weekend ago which helped the Bobcats improve to 13-5 in the Southland Conference. The Bobcats are tied with Stephen F. Austin atop the league standings entering the weekend.

 

Northwestern State (14-24) enters the play against Texas State with a 4-14 record in Southland Conference action. The Demons, who are 6-9 at home this season, are tied for 11th place in the league.

 

Starting for the Bobcats on Thursday will be right hander Carson Smith (5-2, 2.02 ERA), and junior righty Mitchell Pitts (4-0, 4.14) will start on Friday after tossing a complete game shutout in his last outing. Sophomore Colton Turner (5-1, 4.91) will get the ball on Saturday in the season finale.

 

The Demons will send righty Luke Irvine (3-5, 3.50) to the mound on Thursday in the series opener. A pair of lefties will start on Friday and Saturday as Jacob Williford (1-3, 3.56) gets the start in game two of the series and Colin Bear (2-2, 2.53) gets the start on Saturday.
