SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State cross country returns to action Friday when the Bobcats travel to Notre Dame, Indiana, to compete in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational at Burke Golf Course.

The Bobcats will open competition with the women's Blue Division at 10 a.m. ET in a 5K race featuring a 21-team field. The men's team will compete in the Gold Division at 12:40 p.m. ET in an 8K race.

The Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational features two divisions, with teams separated based on entry marks and expected race times. The Blue Division features a competitive field of teams with some of the fastest entry times in the meet, while the Gold Division features a separate field of competitive programs.

Texas State will compete in the women's Blue Division alongside Akron, Belmont, Bradley, Butler, Clemson, Dayton, Grand Valley, Illinois State, Indiana, Indiana State, Miami (Fla.), North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Saint Louis, San Francisco, South Carolina, St. Thomas (Minn.), SMU, Western Michigan and Youngstown State.

Alongside the Bobcats, the men's Gold Division field includes Chicago, Chicago State, Dayton, Goshen, Illinois-Chicago, Kent State, Marquette, Nova Southeastern, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Rio Grande, Saint Louis, Southern Illinois, Tiffin, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, Western Ontario, Windsor, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Friday's meet marks Texas State's third competition of the season following a two-week break from competition. The Bobcats will have one more meet following the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational before competing at the Pac-12 Conference Championships on Oct. 30.

The women's team enters the meet with a pair of first-place finishes, winning the team title at both the UIW Twilight and UIW Invitational. The men's team has recorded runner-up finishes at both meets.

Several newcomers have made immediate contributions for the Bobcats through the first two meets of the season.

On the men's side, freshman Jaxon Asbill has recorded a pair of top-10 finishes to open his collegiate career. Asbill won the 6K at the UIW Twilight in his collegiate debut before placing sixth in the 8K at the UIW Invitational.

On the women's side, transfer Jocelyn Karry and freshman Susana Rawls have each recorded top-10 finishes in their first two races as Bobcats.

Senior Alexia Tiscareno Macias will look to continue her strong start to the season Friday. Macias won the 4K at the UIW Twilight before placing third in the 5K at the UIW Invitational.
