SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas State cross country wrapped up competition at the UIW Invitational Saturday morning, with the women's team earning its second consecutive first-place finish to open the 2026 season and the men's team placing second.

The Bobcats captured the women's 5K team title with 45 points, finishing 31 points ahead of host Incarnate Word, which placed second with 76 points. Trinity finished third with 89 points, followed by UTSA with 91 and Weatherford College with 120.

The victory marks back-to-back first-place finishes for the women's team and gives the Bobcats one of their strongest starts to a cross country season in recent years.

Five Bobcats finished inside the top 20, including three top-10 finishers. Alexia Tiscareno Macias once again led Texas State, placing third in 17:20. Jocelyn Karry followed in fifth at 17:28, while Susana Rawls finished eighth in 17:43.

Camryn Benson placed 12th in 18:00, and Destiney Rose rounded out the Bobcats' top five with a 17th-place finish in 18:15. Peyton Benson finished 23rd in 18:24, while Kimberly Gloria placed 25th in 18:30.

On the men's side, Texas State finished second in the 8K with 57 points, trailing Texas A&M International, which won the team title with 42 points. UIW finished third with 61 points, followed by UTSA with 98 and Trinity with 103.

The men's team also had five runners finish inside the top 20, including two top-10 finishers.

Senior Anthony Sandoval paced Texas State with a fifth-place finish in 25:33, while freshman Jaxon Asbill followed closely behind in sixth at 25:41.

Jack Deelman finished 11th in 25:50, followed by Griffin Hummel in 17th at 26:24. Eyan Calico rounded out the Bobcats' top five in 18th place with a time of 26:27.

Joey Reid finished 26th in 26:54, while Nathan Morales placed 28th in 26:57.

Texas State will return to action Oct. 2 at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
