SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas State opened the 2026 cross country season with a team victory on the women's side and a runner-up finish on the men's side Tuesday night at the UIW Twilight.

The Bobcats' women's team captured first place in the 4K with 31 points, finishing four points ahead of host Incarnate Word. Trinity placed third with 65 points, followed by UTSA with 131 and Blinn College with 163.

The team victory marked the first for the Bobcats at the UIW Twilight. The women's team finished runner-up at the meet in both 2025 and 2024.

Alexia Tiscareno Macias led the way for Texas State, winning the women's 4K in 14:06.92. The victory marked the second consecutive year Tiscareno Macias has won the UIW Twilight.

Susana Rawls followed with a fourth-place finish in 14:28.45, while Jocelyn Karry placed seventh in 14:38.11.

Destiney Rose and Peyton Benson rounded out Texas State's top five, finishing 11th and 12th, respectively. Rose crossed the finish line in 14:46.15, while Benson posted a time of 14:47.70.

Camryn Benson finished 14th in 14:50.28, followed by Kimberly Gloria in 16th at 14:56.44 and Sanai Robinson in 17th at 14:58.62. Nyomi Garcia placed 29th in 15:37.74.

On the men's side, Texas State finished second in the 6K with 57 points, trailing Incarnate Word's 28 points. UTSA finished third with 63 points, followed by Trinity with 94 and Blinn College with 128.

Freshman Jaxon Asbill paced the Bobcats with a first-place finish, completing the 6K in 18:15.69 in his collegiate debut.

Jack Deelman finished ninth in 18:58.12, while Anthony Sandavol placed 10th in 19:02.69. Griffin Hummell and Liam Bengtsson finished 24th and 25th, respectively, with times of 19:36.35 and 19:37.50.

Eyan Calico finished 30th in 19:46.25, followed by Joseph Reid in 37th at 19:58.38 and Nathaniel Morales in 38th at 20:00.60. David Herring placed 55th in 20:43.10, while Julian Dominguez rounded out the Bobcats in 67th with a time of 21:19.12.

Texas State will continue its 2026 cross country season Sept. 12 when it returns to San Antonio to compete in the UIW Invite.
